I left the turrets where they were and ran the gunners up to the defensive position I'd set up. And two Hives, still undamaged.Īnd as we were settling down to finish off the downed enemies, a Pirate Raid entered the map, attacking immediately. Once the fight was done, everyone was injured, but none of the turrets were damaged, and we had some good loot - several guns, one research boosting widget, and a few other nifty items. One of them somehow teleported through a side wall, outside of the kill tunnel, and made its way around to start mauling the gunners. While the single Megaspider and several Spelopedes mauled the poor criminals from the Cryo Pods, the Megascarabs tried to make their way out to fight our troops. The bugs and people from the pods were too busy killing each other.

Our turrets and gunners went into a shooting frenzy immediately, and the poor colonist who'd been sent down to open the wall took several hits before getting out of the cone of bullets. And that angered the Bug Hive that was also inside. Inside the Ancient Danger were two Cryo Pods that popped open the moment we broke the wall.

The third (weakest) colonist went over and cracked the wall. Four Turrets and my two best gunnery colonists set up at the far end of the tunnel.

We set up a kill tunnel for the end of the Ancient Danger. The Boomalopes killed two of their people, including the leader, dropping us from +10 to -11), we were doing OK. Despite having a few colonists die because of unavoidable problems (one of the better all-around colonists got the Plague, and we only had Herbal Medicine), and one completely avoidable problem (a Boomalope herd getting upset that we were culling their members. They finally got some defenses set up, and a way to deal with that Ancient Danger that was close to our home. The colony that had the savage butterfly invasion recovered.

Most items close to the standard Crashlanded scenario, but due to their reduced numbers and older age (and health problems that go with), they have a little more silver, better medicine, and slightly upgraded weapons.Įdit: Honestly, I have no idea what mod adds vicious butterflies. * An elderly couple that wants to extend their life through cybernetics gets crash-landed. The other colonist with medical skills was up on their feet soon enough to prevent her from bleeding out. Thankfully, she managed to beat it into submission before getting too hurt, and went to lay down afterward. The rabbit had terrible timing, and was busy beating on doors as she went out, so she slipped past the rabbit without combat five times before the rabbit managed to slip into a door behind her, and started savaging her with its teeth. And while she was running from the storage to the barracks-cum-hospital, a rabbit went mad.

It was only because of my lucky, lucky new medic that was able to beat the last butterfly unconscious, and then patch up all three of the others, within 2 hours of their respective deaths, that we survived. Playing my own scenario ( Flesh & Metal*), I was attacked by a manhunter pack of vicious butterflies who took out both of my gunners and a third member who happened to be out in public at the wrong time.

I had the most WTF face-palm series of events this morning. Fortunately, he got over that, but man AI, can you give the guy a break? His name is cockroach though. It's severe enough that he's in bed 90% of the day. I have one guy who has been suffering from sensory mechanites for about a week now. Replace my dog who died of a heart attack at age 13. I'm kind of hoping it passes out from hunger. And then woe be it to anyone who pops onto the map over there. I expect it to be just the warg pretty soon. Right now there's a warg over there, and a few small animals. That's an interesting little self-contained ecosystem. But they happened to do so in a small area that I walled off, and took off shortly thereafter. Then suddenly a bulk caravan! With 42 components! Right after that, a tribal caravan showed up. I was getting really low on components, and was down to strip mining the map. It was funny that I was playing last night and realized that I hadn't seen a caravan in a really long time. Certainly not weapons! Usually it's insect jelly or cat leather. I don't think I've ever had anything really good drop from cargo pods.
